At the start of 2023, I made a New Year’s resolution to stretch for five minutes every night.
And I actually stuck with it…for 30 days.
I’d stand by my bed, stretch intentionally, sometimes watch a video on the Peloton app. And it felt so good. Until life did what it always does. Evenings went back into autopilot, and the habit disappeared.
So in 2024, I made the exact same resolution. Same goal, same intention. But this time, I did it differently. I didn’t carve out five minutes. I didn’t overcommit. I just started stretching while I brushed my teeth.
That was it. Simple. Uncomplicated.
And now, a year and a half later, I still do it every night.
I shared this in passing on Instagram and someone replied, “Because of you, I now stretch every night while brushing my teeth too.” And that’s when it clicked.
This wasn’t about productivity or discipline. It was about making the important stuff easier to access. It was about using the time I already had, without needing to overhaul my day.
