Shortlist vol. 6
19 podcasts I listen to instead of reading books
I’ll let you in on a secret: I am not a big book reader, but I am perpetually listening to a podcast. When you’re juggling all the things, you have to make your time work harder for you. That’s why I rely on podcasts as my primary resource for inspiration and advice. I’m a big believer in habit stacking, so they turn my commute, my morning routine, and even cleaning the kitchen into a time for growth and learning.
I have a roster of favorite shows that are always automatically downloaded. It completely removes any analysis paralysis so I don’t have to scroll or decide what to listen to in the moment.
I’ve curated a list of the exact podcasts I’m subscribed to that cover everything from career tips, business news and parenting hacks to interesting fun facts and life design strategies. So, grab your headphones and let’s do this.
The Newsworthy This is the first podcast I listen to in the morning. I limit my daily news for my own sanity and I love this unbiased 15-minute roundup.
Aspire with Emma Grede I always feel so inspired after listening to Emma and the powerhouse guests she brings on.
The Mel Robbins Podcast Mel tells you exactly what you need to hear to stop overthinking and start taking action at work and home.
The New Modern Mom Podcast I host C-level execs, VPs and entrepreneurs to answer the question we all are thinking: how the F are they doing it all. I also have a Toolkit Series where I share my own systems for optimizing everything from packing and travel to business operations and home life.
The Best One Yet This is the second podcast I listen to daily. In 15 mins it breaks down the three biggest business stories with a lot of energy and good laughs. It’s a light-hearted way to take in what can typically feel dry.
Social Currency I love Sammi’s unique take on the intersection of culture and business, specifically the angle on consumer trends.
Hot Smart Rich I appreciate Maggie’s unfiltered take on building wealth and power.
Superwomen with Rebecca Minkoff A great lineup of entrepreneurs.
The Jasmine Star Show Jasmine breaks down so many business challenges into “do-this-today” steps that actually work.
HERself I see a lot of parallels on the topics here as my podcast… and love hearing more perspectives from women on their approach to motherhood.
The Liz Moody Podcast This is all about science-backed ways to live a healthy life.
Conversations with Cam I love how honest and open Cam is about every aspect of her life, but especially motherhood.
Mighty as a Mother This podcast is a great mix of women in the trenches and experts chatting through topics that are on every working mom’s mind. And I happen to be a guest last summer! Listen to my episode here.
The Economics of Everyday Things These bite-sized episodes are perfect for those short commutes. And guaranteed to give you something fun to drop at your next networking event or dinner party.
Game Changers with Molly Fletcher Guests are a combination of doctors, professors and athletes on topics guaranteed to inspire you to grow, take a chance, and live better.
Brilliant Balance I think Cherylanne, the host, and I would be best friends. She talks a lot about sustainable success and designing your next chapter.
The Breadwinners A newer podcast that brings on experts as well as ambitious women to talk honestly about the evolution of women at work and home.
A Day in Her Life I find it fascinating (and validating) to hear the authentic, unpolished routines of other ambitious women and how they actually structure their days.
The Indicator from Planet Money Economics was one of my least favorite subjects, but I appreciate how simplified the hosts make the topics and I feel like I learned something in just 10 mins
