I’ve been lying to you… I’m actually a brunette

This may come as a surprise… but I’m actually a brunette. Like deep, dark brunette.

I like to say I was meant to be a blonde and the universe just made a mistake, which is why it somehow looks extremely natural. Between a very good hairstylist and the fact that my son is very blonde, it’s no wonder this fun fact catches people off guard.

My blonde journey started at 17 with Sun In “highlights” (IYKYK). From there, college and my early twenties were a rotation of not-great dye jobs and questionable highlights. The color wasn’t always good… but through all of it, I somehow managed to keep my hair really strong and healthy.

I’ve tested a lot over the years. Every buzzy product, every “game-changing” tool. And while I still love trying new things, here’s the truth:

The results don’t come from what’s new. They come from what you use consistently.

At this point, my routine is locked. These are the products and tools that have made it through every clean-out, every trip, every attempt to “upgrade.” They just work.

Sharing my exact routine and non-negotiables I’ve had for 10+ years.

1. Dyson Hair Dryer there really is no other blow dryer that compares

2. Hot Tools 1” Curling Iron The GOAT, I have had mine for literally 15 years and it’s still going!

3. Hair Brush I use this to blow dry

4. Kiehl’s Amino Acid Shampoo and Kiehl’s Amino Acid Conditioner for everyday use

5. Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo I’ve tried several purple shampoos and this is the best one on the market for getting rid of brassiness for color-treated or highlighted hair

6. Shea Moisture Hair Mask $4 for hair that feels like you went to a head spa

7. Redken Leave-in Spray for after the shower

8. Living Proof Dry Shampoo this actually cleans your hair without any residue

9. Living Proof Hair Spray I love that it’s not too heavy

10. DryBar Triple Finishing Spray to add some texture and volume

11. Overnight Hair Ties this is super important - I sleep with my hair in a super high ponytail, never down!

12. Roz Hair Oil It gives shine, heat protection, and moisture *the one new addition to my routine
